Board Election

The next Board of Education election will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2017.  Four terms on our seven-member Board of Education will expire in April 2017 – those of Mr. Daniel Kolar, Mr. Marty Lundeen, Mr. Al Rogers and Mr. Charles Sprandel.  Two unexpired 2-year terms will also be available – those of Mrs. Casey Amayun and Mr. Thomas Poulakidas.   

QUALIFICATIONS

A School Board member must be, on the date of election or appointment, a United States citizen, at least 18 years of age, a resident of Illinois and the District for at least one year immediately preceding the election and a registered voter.

Reasons making an individual ineligible for Board membership include holding an incompatible office, and certain types of State or federal employment. A child sex offender, as defined in State law, is ineligible for School Board membership.

SCHOOL BOARD ELECTION PROCEDURES FOR 2017
Recent legislation significantly changed school election procedures. The local election official is no longer responsible for school board member elections. Nominating petitions must be filed with the DuPage County Board of Elections, 421 N. County Farm Road, Wheaton, Illinois 60187. Their phone number is 630 407-5600. Nominating papers should be obtained directly from the DuPage County Board of Elections. The first day to circulate nominating petitions for the April 4, 2016 election is September 20, 2016. The first day to file nominating papers is December 12, 2016. The last day to file nominating papers is Monday, December 19, 2016. The last day for all candidates to file receipt for Statement of Economic Interest forms to accompany nominating papers is also Monday, December 19, 2016.
